February 24th, 2010Web Traffic Sources – Browser Usage
When I started on the Internet in mid-1990 I, like most people who use Netscape Navigator as your web browser. I used very happy for a couple of years and then again like most people who pass through Internet Explorer, when it is part of the Windows operating system has become. I started using Internet Explorer version 3 looks and still use today. Things seem to change themselves, with more and more people switch to Firefox.
I maintain some> Websites and did so for several years. Looking at the statistics for web sites that I can see how it looks to me a gradual switch to Firefox. For instance, take the statistics for one of my homepage: two years ago 75% of visitors using Internet Explorer, and only 4% use Firefox, a year ago, 73% use the Internet Explorer and 13% use Firefox, which in July 2008 (at the time of writing this article), 67% use Internet Explorer and 25% use Firefox. This represents a sensible step in this directionFirefox.
The character of the area seems to be indispensable when it comes to browser used by visitors. Visitors at the sites of a more technical nature are more likely to use Firefox as your web site visitors on non-technical. For one of my pages, 42% of visitors using Firefox, with 54% using Internet Explorer. On the other hand, in other places where I think the percentage of visitors using Internet Explorer is still around the mark 80%.
It will be interesting to see if the movedirection of Firefox is back and its popularity is due in part to a protest by web users to a large extent be forced to use Internet Explorer for so long.
